After the attempt on President Donald Trump’s life in Pennsylvania in July, many were in disbelief over the numerous communication breakdowns during the event. Commenters questioned how public safety agencies could have such poor communication when the life of a Presidential candidate was at stake.
But, in September, while taking down a second would-be assassin of the President, Martin County Sheriff’s Office in Florida avoided such communication failures. Martin County had the foresight to implement a “game-changer” technology, Tango Tango, to bridge the gaps in mission-critical communication.
Tango Tango securely connects traditional “walkie-talkie” systems used by public safety agencies to phones and computers through LTE, Wi-Fi, and other networks. This expands communication options for public safety while introducing advanced features like cloud-based interoperability, recording, and playback.
Peter Pisano, Martin County Commission’s Network Administrator said the following:
“We’ve been using Tango Tango here in Martin County, FL for a little over a year now. It has really become a game-changer for us. We utilize 8 channels on the Tango Tango system for use between the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, Martin County Fire Rescue, Sewells Point Police, Martin County Emergency Management, and Stuart Fire Rescue.
It has been used daily for routine calls and undercover operations. We’ve onboarded federal agents and neighboring partners as well via Tango Tango. Instead of issuing an interoperability radio, we simply create a new user and assign the needed channels to the officer/firefighter. It really is a great tool.
Recently, Tango Tango was used for many major events in our area. It has been part of a take down and arrest of a would-be Presidential Assassin, Presidential and VIP motorcades, preparation and recovery during two recent hurricanes/tornadoes, and statewide response to help neighboring Counties recover from mass destruction from these storms.
Tango Tango truly has proven it weight in gold and their customer service is superb. We are looking forward to a continued partnership in the future with them.
Tango Tango CEO Trey Sharp said:
“We are incredibly proud to have supported the Martin County Sheriff’s Office in their mission to protect the President, just as we are honored to serve all the first responders who work tirelessly to safeguard the public every day.
In life-threatening situations, every public safety agency deserves the ability to communicate using the most advanced tools available. Time and time again, we’ve seen that better communication during critical moments leads to better outcomes for both the public and first responders.
That’s why our mission is to connect every public safety agency across the United States and empower every first responder to communicate seamlessly when seconds count.”
