On Tuesday, May 26th, we'll release our biggest update ever: Tango Tango 4.0. This is our deepest iOS integration to date, plus two of your most-requested features.
Here are the 3 big features:
⚠️ Action Required for iPhone Users — Apple's New PTT Framework
Apple now supports push-to-talk as a first-class feature in iOS, and they're requiring all PTT apps to move to this new framework. The upside: Tango Tango 4.0 moves off the audio workarounds PTT apps have historically relied on and onto Apple's native PTT system, giving your users a tighter, more reliable experience with enhanced features.
The catch: Every iPhone user must open Tango Tango once and accept a new iOS permission prompt. Users who skip this step or who do leave the new Background Services enabled will not receive PTT or tone out traffic if their phone auto-updates Tango Tango. You can either turn on this new service now (and it stays active when 4.0 comes out, recommended) or you can update the app after release and accept the new permissions then.
